Import from Trello
Moving over from Trello? Import from Trello brings an existing board into SievePage, so your columns and cards come with you and you do not have to start over.
How it works
Use Import from Trello and paste your board's public link. Choose whether to bring cover images and attachments along, then import. SievePage adds everything to the page you pick, alongside anything already on it, so many people import into a fresh page to keep things tidy.
What comes across:
- Columns: your open lists become columns, in the same order
- Cards: the visible cards in each list, with their titles and descriptions
- Labels: card labels come across with their colors
- Cover images and attachments: brought over too, unless you switch them off before importing
Archived lists and cards stay in Trello. Members and assignees are not mapped, since they belong to Trello accounts, and a few card details like due dates do not carry over yet.
The board has to be public
SievePage reads your board through its public Trello link, so the board needs to be public for the import to see it. If it is private, you will get a note that the board cannot be found or is private.
To make a board public: open it in Trello, click Share, and set visibility to Public. Run the import, then switch it back to private afterward if you like.
Importing the same board more than once
You can import the same Trello board into more than one SievePage page. What you cannot do is import it into the same page twice.
- Into a different page: allowed. On Pro you can keep several pages, so you might import a board into your main page and the same board into another page later. Free includes your one main page, so that is where your import lands. See Plans and pricing for how many pages each plan includes.
- Into the same page again: SievePage stops it, so you do not end up with two copies of every column and card stacked on the page. For a clean re-import, bring it into a different page instead.
Limits and safeguards
A few protections keep imports safe and reliable for everyone:
- Public boards only: the import reads public boards, so private boards and accounts stay private.
- Built for one board at a time: very large boards may be too big to bring in one go. If yours is turned away, split it into smaller boards in Trello and import in parts.
- Steady pace: imports are rate-limited, so a burst of back-to-back imports may need to wait a moment between runs.
- Your storage is respected: imported cover images and attachments count toward your quota, and an import that would push you over is stopped before anything is created. Free up space, import without attachments, or upgrade to Pro. See Storage.
- Same protected upload path: attachments come in through SievePage's own locked-down storage, the same pipeline as every other upload, never from an outside source. See Content protection and AI.
- No accidental duplicates: the same board cannot be imported onto the same page twice.
