Payments on SievePage
Get paid for your work, keep 100% of it, and stay in full control. Payments are available on every plan.
The short version:
- Tips are free. You keep every cent.
- Storefront prices include a small 3% that's covered by the buyer (soon). The price your fans see is the price they pay.
- You're always in control. Money goes straight to you through Stripe. We never hold your funds, and we never keep our fee on a refund.
What you keep
You keep 100% of what you earn. We never take a cut of your art.
Our part comes from a tiny amount folded into storefront prices, covered by the buyer:
- Tips: free. Someone tips you, you get all of it. We don't touch it.
- Storefront sales: a small 3% included in your prices (soon). When you set a storefront price, a small 3% is baked in and covered by the buyer. The price your fans see is the price they pay, with no surprise fees at checkout. You keep 100% of what you earn.
Your payment provider also charges its own card fee, usually around 2.9% + $0.30, the same as anywhere online.
You're always in control
- Your money goes straight to you. Payments flow directly from your supporter to your own Stripe account. We never hold, pool, or sit on your funds.
- You own your Stripe dashboard. Payouts, receipts, payment history, and refunds all live in your Stripe account, under your control.
- Refunds and disputes are yours to run. You set your commission terms and cancellation policy, and you decide if and when to refund. We don't approve, deny, freeze, or reverse anything on your behalf.
- No surprise holds. We can't lock up money that was never ours to hold.
Need a hand with a dispute? See Stripe's guides on disputes and responding to disputes, or contact Stripe directly. And we'd always love to help where we can.
Refunds
You run refunds from your own Stripe dashboard, on your own terms, whenever you decide a sale should be returned. When you do, we automatically hand our 3% fee back to your buyer too. They're refunded in full.
The one part we can't return for you is Stripe's own card fee (around 2.9% + $0.30). Stripe keeps that on a refund, the same as anywhere online.
Setting up payments
1. Add your details and turn on payments
- Make sure you've added a SievePage display name, username, and website so your supporters know it's you.
- Under your email, click Create Stripe Account.
- Already have Stripe? This connects it and creates a SievePage-linked account in your Stripe dashboard.
- New to Stripe? It walks you through setting one up for free.
2. Finish your Stripe setup
- A new window opens to sign in to Stripe.
- Stripe asks for your account details, business or personal details (location, individual or business), and a bank account for payouts.
- Add your Public Details (business name, phone, address). Supporters can see these when they pay.
- Once you're done, you're sent back to SievePage and you're ready to earn.
3. Share your page
- A Tip button appears on your public page, next to your website link.
- Supporters tap it, enter an amount and a message, and pay. Stripe handles all the payment details.
4. Get paid
- Both you and your supporter get an email after a successful payment.
- See your earnings under Account > My Earnings, and in your Stripe dashboard.
How supporters pay
Supporters pay by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay through Stripe. Their payment details are stored securely by Stripe and managed by them, never by us.
- One-time payments: they enter their card at checkout, and funds go straight to you.
- Recurring payments: they can save their details (with phone verification) for one-click checkout next time.
Managing your Tip button
Turn the Tip button on or off anytime under Account > Payments and Orders.
Stripe sets your payout schedule based on your location and account type, usually a rolling 2, 4, or 7-day cycle. You can switch to instant payouts for a fee in your Stripe dashboard.
Where Stripe works and what you need
To get paid, you (the creator) need to be based in a country Stripe supports, currently more than 45 across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and parts of the Middle East. In Asia that includes Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand, with more added over time. Stripe works for individuals, sole proprietors, and businesses of any size. Once connected, you get a Stripe dashboard to manage payments, payouts, and refunds.
Your supporters can pay from almost anywhere. They don't need a Stripe account, just a card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Payments are processed in USD for now. If you're based outside the US, Stripe converts to your local payout currency, and a small conversion fee may apply. We plan to add more options over time.
If Stripe isn't in your country yet, you won't be able to connect payments right now. Sorry about that. We're watching Stripe's coverage as it grows.
Your privacy
We usually only need a name and email to complete a payment. We're careful and respectful with your information.
Payments go directly from your supporter to you through Stripe. Stripe controls what shows on bank statements and in the dashboard. Details like legal name, email, bank, and parts of the billing address are visible to the Stripe account holder, just like any standard online purchase. SievePage doesn't control what Stripe shares. See Stripe's data practices to learn more.
SievePage is not a financial institution or broker. We currently show transactions in USD only. Please review our Terms to understand our role in payments, and reach out anytime if something comes up. We're here for you. 💌
